A Kindred Spirit. Except my ancestors fought for the Confederacy (as well as the Revolution.) No hard feelings though, this time around there will be many Yankee Rebs, and you are already living in VA.

Though the Neo-Fascists have been busy dismantiling Confederate Statues in VA and elsewhere in the South, It seems the Idea of a decentralized Feral DC Gov still scares them, even from the 150 year old Johnny Reb graves.

I hope your 2023 view of Our New Republic being "mostly peaceful" achieved is the reality, though as you also pointed out Birth is painful. All the Best, Patriot.

As far as I understand, we didn't fight the civil war in the South, but in Missouri and might have been cousin against cousin too. I think the past few years have led me to realize how that happens. I have a much broader take now with the realization of how much our government has lied about history.

With regards to Virginia, the mask wars here in 20-21 seemed like a reenactment of the civil war hot spots. They dismantled the standing Confederate monument in Old Town too last year, but it still marked the point where businesses went crazy to the North with mask rules. The further you went North the worse it got. Louden County with Harper's Ferry was a big cultural battle point. Many in MD and DC would come down to Old Town those years as we never required masking. Then we had to fight to get them out of our schools here too in Fairfax Country.

I have definitely turned into a rebel. Because it's basically the same fight vs The City of London/EIC that we have always had to fight to keep our freedom. Back to our roots when we had the same common enemy. The best to you as well friend and fellow patriot.
